You may have noticed the Town and Region signs posted on the property at the corner of Niven Road and Niagara Stone Road. The 30.16 acre vineyard, 24.67 acres are Cabernet Franc and 5.49 acres are Gewurztraminer, known as the Hunter Road Vineyard was planted in 2020 and the property is the future home of Stone Eagle Winery.

Niagara Region will hold a Public Meeting pursuant to Section 17 of the Planning Act R.S.O. 1990 as amended, to discuss an amendment to the Regional Official Plan initiated by NPG Planning Solutions Inc. on behalf of Stone Eagle Property Corp./2775696 Ontario Inc.

The amendment affects lands legally described as Lots 43 and 44 and Part of Lots 46 and 47, Plan M-11, located at the Northwest corner of Niven Road and Niagara Stone Road within the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA-21-0004) will consist of text changes to add a provision to Section 13 (Site Specific Policies) in order to permit a new sanitary connection to the subject lands.
A concurrent application for a local Zoning By-law Amendment (Town File No. ZBQ-11-2021) has been submitted to the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. The local Zoning By-law Amendment proposes site provisions for an Estate Winery (Stone Eagle Winery) and secondary uses, including the retail of wine, indoor and outdoor hospitality areas, restaurant/function room, kitchen and dry food services with maximum floor areas for the uses. Increased building height and parking requirements.
The local Zoning By-law Amendment and Regional Official Plan Amendment with be processed concurrently. Copies of the applications and supporting documents are available at notl.org/content/public-notices-under-planning-act.

This statutory Public Meeting is being held during the Regions’ Planning and Economic Development Committee under the Provisions of Section 17 of the Planning Act as follows:

Registrants will be notified of Council’s Decision.
